RCS 140 & 180
Engine Installations

RCS 140
"RCS 1.4 in my SIG CAP 231EX has over 100 flights on it now, and turns an APC 17 x 8 at 8300 RPMs, or about 17 lbs. of thrust. Side exhaust with Pitts style single exit muffler. Mounted on Dubro iso mount obtained from RCS. I added a TME smoke system and it is truly AWESOME!!!

I just purchased a RC America 80" Extra ARC for my fall/winter project. I am so happy with the level of support I have received from RC Showcase (questions, email replies, etc.) and how nice they have been to me on the phone and the overall quality of their offerings that I am going to purchase their ZDZ 40 gasser for that airplane.

Feel free to email me with any questions regarding the installation."

RCS 140
"This Stearman had a YS 91 ac for power until I installed my new RCS 140. Because of all the lead needed to balance it with the 91 four stroke, I was able to remove it all and put the 140 in it's place without any weight gain at all and no problem with the balance.

The performance with the RCS 140 is great. The plane weighs 11-3/4 lbs. (was 11-1/4 until I added another servo and bigger wheels etc. etc..)

I would recommend this engine to anyone, it starts and runs great, not to mention, It is really as light as RC Showcase claims.

I am enclosing a couple of photos, hope you can use them."

No muffler! Tom lives in the wide open spaces and doesn't use mufflers. He says it is LOUD!

RCS 140
"I have flown the SNJ at two IMAA fly-ins in the past two weeks. One was the regional War Bird flu-in at Opelika (really between Opelika and Columbus, Ga).. The engine performed flawlessly and really did create a lot of interest. They could not believe that a 1.4 could haul that 18 pound airplane like that. We tached it at 8700 using a Zinger 16/8."

Powered by an RCS 1.4 2-cycle gas engine swinging a Zinger 16x8 at 8000 plus rpm.

"After 30 or so years of modelling this is my first gas engine. This has to be the most user friendly engine that I have ever owned and I can't tell you how much I am pleased with it".

RCS 140

Super Octane is a scratch built pattern plane designed specifically for the RCS 1.40 RE engine.

Specs as follows:
Length - 74 ins.
Wingspan - 74 ins.
Weight - 10 lbs
Prop - 15x12 Mejzlik @ 8400rpm - great vertical performance
Muffler - Bolly Carbon Fiber/Kevlar
PipeNoise - 95 db @ 3 meters
Landing Gear - Fixed Bolly FAI Swept Gear
Fuel Tank - 8 Oz.

This is my second RCS engine my first being a side exhaust version in my Dalotel. I believe that this engine is a very good alternative to the glow engines for pattern use especially for a first time pattern airplane. It is very economical to run with no expensive repairs. I highly recommend this engine. Thanks to RCShowcase for their excellent service.

RCS 140
Just thought I'd chime in here with a little comment on the RCS 1.40.

I am SO impressed with this little motor. It's still breaking in, no more than 10 or so 15 min flights on it, and blowing away all my expectations of a small gas motor actually putting out some performance.

So, just this weekend I decided to try a Bambula 16x8 on it. OMG!! Tach read clear and consistant - 9060 rpms!!! Nearly 16 lbs of thrust at full throttle!!

So, the RCS 1.40 is a WINNER in my book. Next airframe for it???

Chief Aircraft/Giant Scale Planes KATANA S. Hope to keep it around 10-11 lbs. Bare airframe is only 5lbs...I think I can do it...

On a second note, RCS customer service is TOP NOTCH!! UPS was unable to deliver a package to my house last month, RCS quickly re-sent the order no charge. That's why I had a Bambula 16x8 to try!!!

Thanks guys for an awesome experience, and a super quality line of products. Now if I ever had enough money for a Velox/ZDZ...haa!
